How to reset and change Client user's password?

This article contains steps to reset and change the Client user's password from default to a predefined password.

 Problem
 

› Cannot login to xPortalNet Client. User forgot password.   

       
 Symptoms
 

 Get error message "Invalid Password".

         
 Cause (optional)
 

 Incorrect password was entered by the System User.

         
 Resolution Summary
 
» Password can only be reset if user able to login to xPortalServer. Which means, system user's password for xPortalServer must be correct.

Resolution 1:
› Reset the password to default password. 

Resolution 2:
› Change the default password. 
         
 Resolution
 

Perform steps below to solve the issue.

Resolution 1:

› Perform this steps to reset system user’s password:

  1. Login to xPortal Server. 
  2. Open System User setup. (Go to Server Admin › System User)
  3. At System User Setup, select the Client User ID that you wish to reset the password.
  4. Then click Reset Password button at the bottom of the window. 


  5. The software will prompt a message to confirm reset password. Click Yes to continue.

  6. The software will prompt a message the default password for that System User. Click OK to continue.

  7. Click Modify to modify the resetted password's User ID settings.
  8. Make sure Change Password Next LogOn is set to "Yes" if you wish to change the default password to a new password.
  9. Otherwise change the value to "No".

  10. Click OK to save the changes.



Resolution 2:

› Perform this steps to change system user’s password:
»This steps can only be perform if you have enable the Change Password Next LogOn (See Resolution 1).

  1. Login to the xPortal Client using Default password.
  2. The software will prompt you to change password as shown below:


  3. Enter your old password and then click OK.

  4. Enter your new password and then click OK.


  5. Confirm your new password and then click OK.

  6. The software will prompt you message that the password has successfully changed.

    » Please exit from the software using the new password.
