Cannot use AutoPIN using XP-GT/ XP-GTR

This article contains solution to solve issue cannot use AutoPIN using XP-GT/ XP-GTR controller.

  • XP-GT1200L, XP-GT3200L, XP-GT1200LABX, XP-GT3200LABX, XP-GT3200LE, XP-GT3200LCPX, XP-GT5000LE
  • XP-GTR1200L, XP-GTR3200L      

› Why I cannot install AutoPIN number?
› I don't want to use Card No to access my door. I want to use AutoPIN number but it is not working.


AutoPIN section in xPortal software is disabled.
› Unable to install AutoPIN number from the software and controller.
› Unable to use AutoPIN number. 

 Cause (optional)

AutoPIN is not supported in XP-GT and XP-GTR controller model.  

 Resolution Summary
› For workaround, use Token Type ID Number to replace AutoPIN number.
  • Token Type ID Number (6-Digits) is similar to AutoPIN (4-Digits).
  • To access the door, enter 6-Digits ID Number.
› There are 2 ways to install the ID Number:


Please perform steps below to solve the issue.


  1. Perform this steps if this is a standalone controller. (Not connected with software)
  2. See small How to install ID Number using XP-GT/ XP-GTR


  1. Run xPortal Client to start adding the staff record. 
  2. Please make sure the xPortal Server is already running and controller is up.
  3. Open Staff RecordsData Setup › Access Data Setting › Staff Records. 
  4. Click Add button to insert a new Staff Record.
  5. Enter the information of the staff. 

  6. Please make sure the Token Type, ID No and Staff No is correct. These values cannot be change after saved.

  7. After you have entered all the necessary fields, open Door Accessibility tab to set the door access for the staff.

    Create predefined Door Accessibility other than the Default value. See small How to configure Door Accessibility in xPortal Client software?

  8. Select Door Accessibility to determine at which day and what time the staff can access particular door.
  9. Click OK to confirm.
  10. The following window will be shown. Click OK to continue.

    1. The software will automatically send user setting (install card) to all controllers. 
    2. After downloading all the settings, it will display a report of data being sent. 

  11. Click Close to return to Staff Detail Setup menu.

  12. The newly added staff record will be listed in the Staff Detail Setup menu.

  13. Enter ID Number at the reader to verify the ID Number is already installed. 
    1. User shall get "Valid Entry Access" if the staff is granted for access on the installed controller.

  14. Finished.
