How do I configure Input, Output and Instruction Control? (Alarm Monitoring Mode)

This article contains the steps to configure Input, Output and Instruction Control for Alarm Monitoring mode.

 Resolution Summary
 

To configure the Alarm Monitoring Mode:

  1. Please configure the wiring connection on the board correctly.

  2. Please configure the xPortalNet Server Setup:
    1. Connection Setup
    2. Controller Setup
    3. Alarm Controller Setup
    4. Output Point Setup
    5. Input Point Setup

  3. Please configure the xPortalNet Client Setup:
    1. Instruction Control Setup

  4. Please download Door Settings to the controller after finish the configuration.

     Resolution
     

    Please perform steps below to configure the Alarm Monitoring Mode.

    If all DIP Switch set to all OFF, all sensor input point must be connected with resistor 3k3 in supervised input mode.
    Wiring Connection

    1. Please set the Address for the controller. See small How to configure address setting (Unit No) for Multi-Door Controller?


    2. Please set the Setting for the controller. DIP Switch 3 must be turned ON for Alarm Monitoring mode.


    3. Reset the controller after changing the DIP Switch. Please press the Reset button from the controller board.


    4. Please connect all input to the controller board.

      All sensor input point must be connected with resistor 3k3 in supervised input mode.
    5. Please connect all output to the output relay on the controller board.



    xPortalNet Server Setup

    Connection Setup

    1. Login to xPortalNet Server.
    2. Open Connection Setup. Go to Server Admin › Connection Setup.
    3. Add one connection.

    4. Click OK to confirm and save settings.

    Controller Setup

    1. Open Controller Setup. Go to Server Admin › System Device Setup › Controller.
    2. Add controller Model No.
    3. Set the Unit No according to the small Address set on the controller.


    4. Click OK to confirm and save settings.

    Alarm Controller Setup

    1. Open Alarm Controller Setup. Go to Server Admin › System Device Setup › Alarm Controller.
    2. Add one alarm controller.

      Please select the correct Model No according to the installed alarm controller. If not connected to any alarm controller, set the Model No to Built-In IO.
    3. Click OK to confirm and save settings.

    Output Point Setup

    1. Open Output Point. Go to Server Admin › System Device Setup › Output Point.
    2. Add output point according to the connected output at the controller board.

      Field Description
      Code and Description Fill in the Code and Description
      Alarm Controller Select small Alarm Controller
      Point No Set the Output Point - Which relay (RLY) the output is connected to.
      • Example: If Output is connected to RLY2, set the Point No to 1.
      • The Relay Point No start from 0 until 7.
    3. Please leave the Event Trigger On and Off blank. 
    4. Click OK to confirm and save settings.


    Input Point Setup

    1. Open Input Point. Go to Server Admin › System Device Setup › Input Point.
    2. Add input point according to the connected input at the controller board.

      Field Description
      Code and Description Fill in the Code and Description
      Alarm Controller Select small Alarm Controller
      Point No Set the Input Point - Which Input Number (IN) the input is connected to.
      • Example: If Input is connected to IN2, set the Point No to 1.
      • The Input Point No start from 0 until 15.
      LED Point Association Set the LED Point Association
      Priority Set the priority of the alarm trigger
    3. Please leave the Event Trigger Arm and Disarm blank. 
    4. Click OK to confirm and save settings.


    xPortalNet Client Setup

    Instruction Control Setup

    1. Open Instruction Control. Go to Data Setup › System Setting › Instruction Control.
    2. Add new Instruction Control.

      Field Description
      Code and Description Fill in the Code and Description
      Event ID Select unique Event ID for this instruction
      Group No Select unique Group No for this instruction
      Controller Select which controller that is connected to the input and output
      Alarm Priority Select the alarm priority when the event is triggered
      Input Source Group Click Add Input to select the Input
      Group Operator
      • AND Mode If all Inputs is triggered at the same time, the Outputs will be ON 
      • OR Mode - If any Inputs is triggered, the Outputs will be ON
      Outputs
      • Click Add Output to select the Output
      • If this message is showing, click OK.
    3. Click OK to confirm and save settings.
      Maximum Input and Output can be added in 1 Instruction is 8. Repeat this steps to add another Instruction.

    Download Door Settings


    1. After finish configuring all settings, please download the Door Settings to the controller.
    2. Open Send Door Settings. Go to Device Comm › Send Door Setting.


    Device Status

    1. Observe the status before output trigger. The status of each list shall be stated as following.
      Field Description
      Alarm Controller List Up
      Input List Armed
      Output List OFF
      If Input List Status before alarm triggered is Alarm, click button Acknowledge, then click button Arm/ Reset

    2. Observe the status after output triggered. The status of each list shall be stated as following.
      Field Description
      Alarm Controller List Up
      Input List Alarm
      Output List ON
