How to configure address setting for Plato reader?

This article contains steps to configure the Plato readers address setting.

Applies To:

  • Plato reader     
 Resolution Summary
 
  1. Check the wiring connection of the reader is correct.
  2. Then, configure the address setting from the back of the reader.
    1. This steps is perform to assign the reader to which door number, and to assign it as Entry or Exit door.

  3. After that, configure the Unit No of the door according to the DIP Switch Setting set on the reader at xPortal software.
 Resolution
 

Please complete the following steps below:


  1. Please connect the wiring connection as below:
    FieldDescription
    PowerReader to Power Supply:
    • Please connect Red wire to 12V
    • Please connect Black wire to 0V
    DownlinkReader to Downlink:
    • Please connect Orange wire to Data+
    • Please connect Grey wire to Data-

  1. Refer to the table below to set the address setting at Plato reader. 
  2. Please ensure the DIP Switch set is correct either As Entry OR As Exit for each door.
  3. Example:
    FieldDescription
    Assign reader for Door 1
    • To set this door as Entry only, set the reader's DIP Switch to 00 OR
    • To set this door as Exit only, set the reader's DIP Switch to 01 OR
    • To set this door as Entry & Exit, please connect 2 Plato readers. Then set the reader's DIP Switch to 00 and 01.
  4. Toggle the DIP Switch correctly. 
    Example: Address 01 - Toggle Up No 1 and Toggle Down No 2, 3 and 4.


  1. Run xPortal Server. 
  2. Open Door Setup. Go to Server Admin › System Device Setup › Door.


  3. Please set the Unit No according to the Plato DIP Switch Setting.

    Example: 
    1. DIP Switch Setting = 00, Unit No = 0
    2. DIP Switch Setting = 01, Unit No = 0
    3. DIP Switch Setting = 02, Unit No = 1
    4. DIP Switch Setting = 03, Unit No = 1
      For same Unit No, please configure it once only. 1 door is associated to Entry and Exit.
  4. Please ensure the Unit No is assign correctly at the correct door.
  5. Flash card to the reader to verify the settings is correct.
  6. Finished.
