This article contains steps to relocate xPortal2005 database to a new PC.
Applies To:
- Software xPortal2005
Resolution Summary Resolution- From Old PC's Server Location, copy the whole MicroEngine Server folder.
- Find the folder from the xPortal2005 folder located at your Server PC. Default Server Location:
Windows Default Server Location Windows XP
Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2003 R2C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MicroEngine Windows 7
Windows 8
Window 10
Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2012 R2
Windows VistaC:\ProgramData\MicroEngine If you don't want to copy the transaction database, you may skip copy the Transaction folder when copy the Server folder. - Please make sure the software version of new PC is similar to the old PC (refer table below), otherwise database migration is needed before you can run the software.
- Do not proceed if database migration is required.
Example:Software Version
(Old PC to New PC)Database Migration v1.1.0.24 to v1.1.0.25 - v1.2.0.57 to v1.2.0.57 - v1.3.0.55 to v1.3.0.61 - v1.1.0.24 to v1.2.0.46 Required, see 
Incompatible xPortal2005 v1.1 with v1.2 database, migration requiredv1.1.0.24 to v1.3.0.61 Required, see Incompatible xPortal2005 v1.1/ v1.2 database with v1.3, migration requiredv1.2.0.47 to v1.3.0.61 Required, see Incompatible xPortal2005 v1.1/ v1.2 database with v1.3, migration required - Please make sure that the 1st and 2nd node (highlighted in red color) of the software version are similar.
- Please perform any database migration first (if required) before proceed to relocate the database.
To relocate the database, follow the following steps in sequence order.
Install xPortal2005
- At the New PC, install the xPortal2005 software.
- Run the xPortal2005 Server and initialize new database. See How to initialize xPortal2005 database?
- After successfully initialized the new database, exit the software completely.
Copy New PC's Configuration File
- At the New PC, find the software configuration file (XPDBSetting.cfg) from MicroEngine Server Location folder.
- Copy and paste it into the backup database folder (Refer steps backup old database) at the same location.
Eg: C:\.....\MicroEngine\xPortal2005 v1.3\Database
- Replace the Old PC's configuration file with the new configuration file accordingly.The purpose of this step is to have the configuration of new PC in order to run the old database in the new PC.
Rename New PC's Database Folder
- At the New PC, rename the newly initialized xPortal2005 Server folder.
- Copy the backup database folder. (Refer steps backup old database)
- Paste into the MicroEngine Server location folder at the New PC accordingly.
- The final display of Server folder will be as the following.
You may remove the Server_1 (which is newly initialized) folder as we just need the configuration file only. - Run software.
