LAN connection for controller XP-GT/ XP-GTR to xPortal Server PC

This article contains the LAN connection for controller XP-GT/ XP-GTR to xPortal Server PC.

 Problem
 

Failure of LAN communication between controller to xPortal Server.       

         
 Symptoms
 
 Controller status shown "Down" in Device List.
 No transaction update in the software Latest Event List.
 XP-GT/ XP-GTR setting does not updated when download setting to XP-GT/ XP-GTR.
 Software Delivery Report shows sent "Error" when download setting or update card user info to the XP-GT/ XP-GTR.

         
 Cause (optional)
 
Connection Settings:

 Controller is not connected to a network switches/ router using a network cable.
 Network router/ switches has not powered up.
 Network cable is not working and not in a good condition.

Network Settings:

 Window OS firewall/ Antivirus application has blocked the data communication. 
 Incorrect network setting in controller XP-GT/ XP-GTR and Connection Setup in xPortal Server. 
 Incorrect controller Unit No./ System Addr No. set in the XP-GT/ XP-GTR and software xPortal Server.
 Controller faulty.
         

 Resolution Summary
 

Connection Settings:

 Make sure the controller is connected to a network switches/ router using a network cable.
 Make sure the network router/ switches has powered up.
 Make sure the network cable used is working and in a good condition.

Network Settings

 Make sure the Windows Firewall is turn off and antivirus has been disabled.
 Make sure the network setting is correct in both controller and software xPortal Server.
 Make sure the Controller Unit No./ System Addr. No set in General Parameter of the controller is match and correct with the setting set in the controller setup in xPortal Server.

         
 Resolution
 

Ensure the connection from controller to the PC is correct. Please refer to the connection guide below:

Connection Settings:

  1. Connect the controller to a network switches/ router using a network cable.
  2. Ensure the network router/ switches has powered up.
  3. Ensure the network cable used is working and in a good condition. 
  4. Ensure the network cable type used:

    • Use crossover cable, if controller directly connected to the PC without connecting to router or switches.
    • Use straight cable or standard LAN cable if controller connected to the router or switches.


Network Settings:

  1. See AA-00267 to configure the XP-GT/ XP-GTR controller using network connection.
  2. See AA-00269 to configure the XP-GT/ XP-GTR controller using RS485/ RS232 connection.
