Why the EM Lock does not release when exit button is pressed? Using XP-SR40 reader

This article contains steps to fix the problem of XP-SR40 reader where the door does not released even after the exit button has been pressed.

 Problem
 

› Cannot open door.  

       
 Symptoms
 
› After pressing exit button, door cannot be open. However, door can be open after flash card. 
 Door sensor not produced beep sound when door is opened.
 Voltage measured at EM Lock terminal connection is dropped and less than 10Vdc. 
 MAS-RB cannot be triggered.
› LED on the MAS-RB always off when push button is pressed or access is granted with 1 beep from reader.

         
 Cause (optional)
 
 Connection error from Push button to MAS-RB.
 Relay board (MAS-RB) faulty. 
 Reader faulty.
 EM Lock faulty.
 Push button faulty.
 Power supply faulty.

         
 Resolution Summary
 

 Make sure the wiring connection is correct.
 Check LED on MAS-RB can be triggered ON when short a wiring from PB to 0V.
 Make sure the voltage measured at terminal voltage input of reader is equivalent to 12Vdc.

         
 Resolution
 

Please complete the following steps below in order to resolve your issue. 

  1. Make sure the wiring connection is correct. 
    › See AA-00242 for XP-SR40 wiring connection diagram.

  2. If problem persist:

    Resolution 1:
    › Make sure the voltage measured at terminal voltage input of reader is equivalent to 12Vdc
    .

    Resolution 2: 
    › Use a short wire to connect direct from terminal PB to 0V, check whether the EM Lock can be released or not. 

    Resolution 3:
    › Present a valid card which has been installed at the reader, check
    EM Lock can be released when valid access granted.

    Resolution 4:
    › If problem persist, parts faulty. Please contact our technical support.
