Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is a pre-requisite installation for xPortal2005 software. This article contains the steps to install the framework correctly.
Applies To:
- Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
- Software xPortal2005 v1.1, xPortal2005 v1.2
Resolution Summary- There are 4 options of installations guide available to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
- Option 1: Applicable to Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista
- Option 2: Applicable to Windows 8
- Option 3: Applicable to Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008
- Option 4: Applicable to Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
- Please select the correct option which relevant to Windows OS platform where the xPortal software is to be installed.
- It is recommended to use the

If found or suspect the Microsoft. NET Framework 1.1 installed in the computer is corrupted, refer to the article How to clean up corrupted Microsoft .NET Framework? on how to completely uninstall the software.
ResolutionPlease complete the following steps in order to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
* If any message of program compatibility issue is pop out, just run the program.
- Run dotnetfx.exe executable program to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package.
- Follow the instructions until installation complete.
- Finish.* If installation failed in Windows Vista, please perform steps in Option 4.
- Run dotnetfx.exe executable program to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package.
- Run dotnetfxsp1.exe executable program to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.
- Follow the instructions until installation complete.
- Finish.
- Run dotnet (Win7).bat batch file.
- Installation will start and complete automatically.
- If there is a request to overwrite (in case the files already exist in C:\ drive), just enter "a" and installation will complete.
- Finish.* If installation failed, please perform steps in Option 4.
- Create a new folder named DotNet in C:\ drive.
- Copy dotnetfx.exe and dotnetfxsp1.exe.
- Paste both files to DotNet folder in C:\ drive. Then run Command Prompt as administrator.
- At Command Prompt window, type cd C:\DotNet and press Enter.
- Then type dotnetfx.exe /c:"msiexec.exe /a netfx.msi TARGETDIR=C:\DotNet" and press Enter.
- A setup window as follows will appear. Click "Yes" to install.
- Wait for the extraction and setup to complete. A message as follows will appear.
- Type dotnetfxsp1.exe /Xp:C:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp and press Enter.
- No message will appear for this command.
- Type msiexec.exe /a c:\DotNet\netfx.msi /p c:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp and press Enter.
- A setup window as follows will appear. Wait for the setup to complete and disappear automatically.
- Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 with slipstreamed/integrated Service Pack 1 by running netfx.msi created in the folder.
- A setup window as follows will appear. Wait for the setup to complete and disappear automatically.
- The final display of Command Prompt window will be as the following.
- Finish.
